· About Lucy ·

Photoshoot Process

I've spent 15 years learning how to see people.
And honestly? It started with ancient civilizations.
Growing up in NYC, I was that kid completely obsessed with history — the art, the artifacts, the cultures of past civilizations. I wanted to travel the world looking for ancient artifacts. Archaeology was the plan.
Then freshman year of high school I joined the art academy — and everything changed. Taught by an incredible artist who trained us in classical fine art mediums like charcoal drawing and oil painting. Teaching the slow and beautiful work of learning to truly see what's in front of you. Something clicked for me. By senior year I'd won regional art competitions and was interning at the Met — surrounded by centuries of portraits that all said the same thing: this person was here. This person mattered. That idea never left me.
Around the same time, America's Next Top Model came on TV and I was mesmerized. Not by the modeling — by the photoshoots. The sets, the light, the way a photographer could build an entire world and then capture something true inside of it. I loved the idea of being able to build a set and create images so beautiful, powerful and emotional. This is the same thing I do with paint. Two mediums, same magic. I went to college to study both and I've never looked back.Years later, I was out painting a field of flowers in bloom when a thought just stopped me:
We are all like flowers. Carrying something beautiful inside of us, ready to bloom.
That was the moment BloomfieldPortraits became real for me. I wanted to create a space where a session isn't about performing for a camera. It's about honoring the season you're in — wherever that is, whatever that looks like. A place where presence unfolds into art.
I can't wait to meet you.
